How to Care for an Umbrella or Parasol.

Good umbrella care is simple: let it dry, keep the mechanism clean, and do not ask the frame to withstand conditions it was not built for. Those habits protect both the canopy finish and the moving parts.

Dry before storing

Open a wet umbrella in a ventilated area until the canopy and folds are fully dry. Storing it damp can create odour, mark the canopy, and place unnecessary moisture around metal components.

Clean gently

Remove loose dust with a soft cloth. For ordinary marks, use cool water and a small amount of mild soap, then rinse lightly and air dry. Avoid bleach, solvents, abrasive brushes, machine washing, and high heat.

Respect the frame

Open the canopy in clear space and never force a mechanism that feels obstructed. In strong or erratic wind, close the umbrella and seek shelter. If a canopy inverts, move out of the wind before gently returning it to shape.

Store thoughtfully

Once dry, fold the canopy along its natural pleats and use the supplied sleeve or stash bag. Keep wood handles and canopy coatings away from prolonged high heat, standing water, and crushing loads.
